African Sweetheart's Man Of The Week: Elijah Nunuu

'Man of The Week is a celebration of the good African man. A man who works hard to be a provider and upholds strong values and principles.'

I'm a young Minister who currently is in Bible College majoring in Leadership/Ministerial
I'm from Ghana, West Africa but resides now in Columbus, Ohio U.S.A...I came to the states at a very young age (6 years old) so I'm often told I don't look or sound like I'm an African lol

Growing up believe it or not I was never big on fashion, is just wasn't my thing...but the turning point for me had more to do with my little sister than me myself...what I mean by that is that my sister (besides being a Nursing Major) is a fashion designer/expert, and it was her who I jokingly say "Rub her fixation of fashion on me" and there rest was history.

Being a Minister, it shocks a lot of people to see how a person who is pursuing God can be into fashion as much as he is, but what I say and a motto that I live by is that "Who said that you cannot serve God and look good (or your best) doing it". The bible even mention that "We should let our light shine before others" Matthew 5:16, so what I try to show with my style of fashion is that you CAN love God and serve him by looking your best to reflect His glory on you.

It pretty started when I was at the age of 17 when I came close to dying due to a serious sickness, to a point that the doctors thought I was why I laid at the hospital bed. While I was laying there, I heard a voice say "Your time has not yet come yet" and I that moment my eyes were open. So going through that experience I realized there was a reason why I didn't die that day and I was on a course to find out why.

Eventually,  my search lead me to finding Christ and on my 18th Birthday January 27, 2007 I gave my life to God. Afterwards many Man of God begin to prophesy over my life that there was a Calling upon my life for the Ministry. Even though my dad himself was a Pastor,  all my uncles from both side of my mom and dad were Pastors as well, I didn't want this Calling and I try my best to run away from it as I just wanted to live my life.

So in my first year of College or Uni, that was exactly what I was doing, living my life and God himself knew and saw this as well. And one day after coming home from class, I had laid down on my bed to rest and all of a sudden I was caught up in a Vision. I don't have time to go through the entire Vision, but what I will share is that in the Vision I saw and stood before Jesus himself.

I could describe him from top to bottom,  the only thing I could not see was his face as it was the most brightest light I have ever seen even more than the Sun. So as I stood in front of him, I had my head bow as I couldn't look at his face and He began to speak and these were his words "For I Am Jehovah and what I say comes to pass...all the man of God who has prophesy over your life about your Calling, it was I who sent them to you....and I gave your name Elijah, for just like the Elijah of old (the one from the bible) that is how I will use you" and the vision ended.

So after that, I finally stop running away from the Calling and accepted that this was the reason and answer in why I didn't die that day.

I currently work at a Law Firm, I love to travel and will be coming to London in July, and I have a passion of just making a difference and being a blessing in the lives of whomever I may come in contact with

Future plans as it stands right now is to finish up Bible College and eventually become an ordain Pastor and afterwards to travel all over the world to preach the Gospel of Christ and present it to those who have not heard about "the Good News".

Last but not least what do I consider the most I important qualities for a women to poses? When I first read this question all I could do was just smile and nothing less, the reason being is that I was raise only by a Women without the presence or help of a father. One of the things or qualities that I came to realize in the life of my Mother, is that "there is a strength that each women poses, that not even the strongest man on earth could ever obtain"
        (a) It is this strength that she is able to carry a life within her for 9 months.
       (b) It is this strength that wills her to push in one of the most gruesome pains (labour) that a person can ever experience.
        (c) And it is this strength, that cause her to raise 3 children by herself without the presence or support of her husband.

So to summarize all of this in one statement about what I consider to be the most important quality that a women is suppose to poses, it is simply that "She must realize who she is through the eyes of God, have the confidence to stand no matter what situation may come her way, and realize the strength and potential that she carries within her to accomplish anything that she believe and set her mind to do"

I really enjoyed and was blessed reading about God's calling on Elijah life. African Sweetheart wishes you all the very best in your ministry. Thank you for inspiring us.
